The memory of the night Harry held her so close quickly faded when she felt Dougie’s lips once again on her own. His tongue was begging to enter her mouth, shock and confusion washed over her. As soon as she realized what was going on she yanked her head away and slapped him across the face, hard. So hard there was now a bright pink mark on Doguie’s right cheek.

“I guess some people never do change.” Abbey snapped before she stormed away from the dreaded both seat and rudely pushed past a shocked Jordan and a very handsome, but angry looking Harry. What was his problem? Did it really upset him that she had slapped Dougie? But why would he be? She had a perfectly reasonable explanation, it’s not like she went around slapping random guys for fun. Harry should understand, he lives with Dougie for heaven sakes!

“Abbs?” Abbey whirled around to face Jordan. God, what was she thinking? Jordan probably hated her, she had totally ruined her night. Her date with, well with, why the heck was it so hard to admit her best friend was dating Harry? It’s not like he still had any feelings for her, of course not. He probably hated her too, she knew he did, that face he made after she slapped Dougie.. “Oh god, my best friend hates me, my best friend’s boyfriend, and my best friend’s boyfriend’s best friend hates me too. This is just wonderful.”

“Uh, Abbs?” Jordan said again, a bit louder this time.
Abbey sighed, “I’m sorry.”
“Err…for what?”
“For making a scene in the restaurant and totally ruining your night! You should totally go back inside and have dinner with Harry.”
“I already told him I was leaving. Besides, you and me need to talk.” Abbey groaned inwardly and cursed at herself silently.
“Then how are we going to get home? We rode with them; we have to walk pretty far to find a taxi. And it’s pitch black, I don’t know about you but I don’t think it’d be the safest. I mean two woman alone at night in heels and dresses in the middle of Lodon? Eh, I don’ t think so!”

“Geez Abbey, calm down! Did you bring your cell phone, we could always call a cab to meet us here.”
“Oh. Right. Um, yeah I did it’s in my purse..” Panic struck her as she realized she had left her purse inside.
“It’s inside the booth seat, isn’t it?”
“Uh, yeah.”
“You want me to get it?”
“NO! I’ll get it.” Even though Abbey so hated Dougie right now she couldn’t risk Jordan overhearing them talking about the past, Jordan couldn’t know. It just, it just wouldn’t be right. No, this was one secret that had to remain silent, no matter how much it screamed to be let out.

Abbey walked back into the restaurant to see Harry and Dougie sitting at the table. As Abbey got closer she could overhear their conversation. "Why did you kiss her? You knew who she was. Were you just trying to make me mad?!" Harry nearly yelled. "Hey, Harry. You've got Jordan. If you're gonna get jealous over Abbey, you need to stop with Jordan. You can't have both." Dougie said before getting up and walking out, passing Abbey but not even noticing her.

Harry stared after Dougie, seeing Abbey in the process. Abbey inwardly groaned as she walked towards the table. Abbey grabbed her purse before heading to walk away. As she began to walk away, Harry grabbed her arm and dragged her around to the back of the restaurant where the bathrooms were, as no one was there.

"How much did you hear?" Harry asked as he pushed her up against the wall. "Hear what? I didn't hear anything." Abbey lied, trying to push Harry away from her. Harry glared at her, "I saw the look on your face, you heard. And I want you to know, I'm over you. I'm with Jordan now."

Abbey laughed slightly. "Stop trying to convince yourself, cos I'd say you're doing a crap job of it. And don't do this to Jordan." Abbey said before pushing him away and storming out of the restaurant.

Millions of things were running through her head as the taxi dropped them both Jordan and Abbey off at Abbey’s small house. One being, Harry had never actually gotten over her. He still liked her, maybe even possibly loved her. Two, Harry was a flipping jerk! He couldn’t be in love with both Jordan aaand Abbey, two best friends. That was just, well, a very jerk like thing to do.

“Sooo.” Jordan said trying to break the awkward silence. Abbey’s head shot up and she realized, that she was now sitting on her bed with her back leaning against the wall facing Jordan who was sitting in her desk’s computer chair.

“Um…what’s up?”
“Well, I’m still wondering what exactly went on when me and Harry went for our little walk, care to fill me in?” Abbey sighed, searching her mind for something she could say. A tale she could spin in order to save herself and Harry some trouble.

“I’m actually kind of tired…” Jordan stared at her studying her face.
“Abbs, why is it I have the feeling you’re hiding something from me?”
Abbey opened her mouth, having no idea what to say but the ringing of a cell phone saved her. Jordan immediately reached into her pocket, when she didn’t answer it Abbey realized it was because she had left her’s at home.

In one swift motion she picked it up, checked the caller ID, she didn’t recognize the number…but she needed an excuse. She flipped it open and walked out of the bedroom, biting her lip hoping it was an actual person and not just a sales person or the wrong number.

“Hello?” A male voice asked, it sounded angry.
“Um, I think you have the wrong number?” She squeaked, never was very good at answering her phone unless she knew exactly who it was.
“Is this Abbey?” Her heart dropped as she realized who it was, Harry.

"HA-Hey!" Abbey said as she slid off her bed and walked out of the room. "Uh, Abbs?" Jordan called as Abbey ignored her and continued out of her room.

Abbey walked down her hall and outside, making sure she was far out of Jordan's hearing range, before she responded. "Why are you calling me? Jordan's here. What would have happened if she picked up the phone?" Abbey nearly yelled.

"Simple, would have said I got your number from Dougie and I was calling for her." Harry said, his tone still angry. "But onto the reason I was calling... I don't love you. I don't like you. I like Jordan. I'm with Jordan. What you said in the restaurant, I'm not trying to convince myself of anything. Okay?" Harry said before hanging up.

"Uh huh.. of course." Abbey muttered before sitting down on a swing she had in her backyard. If she went back inside, that meant telling Jordan who was on the phone, that would be easy enough to come up with an excuse for. But as for what happened while she was gone with Harry...

Sure nothing happened physically, but in her mind a lot happened, and that didn't mean she wanted to talk about it.

Abbey sighed as she began to pump her legs, causing herself to swing. "Abbey? You out here?" Jordan called walking out of the house. "Oh.. hey. Um, I get that you don't wanna talk about earlier. But I mean, could you at least tell me eventually or something? And can I use your phone. I wanna call Harry." Jordan said as she sat down on the swing next to Abbey. Abbey nodded and handed Jordan the phone before walking inside.

Jordan shook her head slowly, something was obviously up with Abbey, and she wanted to know what. But, having known Abbey for almost three years she knew she’d spill eventually, when she was ready to. With a small sigh she threw herself onto Abbey’s small living room couch and quickly dialed Harry’s phone number, now glad she had memorized it. It rung three times before he finally picked it up. Strange, he usually picked it up by the first ring, sometimes the second.

“WHAT DO YOU WANT NOW?” Jordan jumped slightly, as Harry’s voice boomed loudly on the other end.
“Erm, actually I just wanted to talk…but if you’re not in the mood to?” Jordan said with a slight teasing smile.
“No, I don’t want to-wait, Jordan!?!?”
“Ha, yeah.”
“Oh. I thought you were,” He paused, “the jerks who keep prank calling my house!” He finished sounding more confident.
“Ah, I see.”
“Yeah..anyway, um what’s up?”
“Nothing really, Abbey’s acting a bit strange, but I’m guessing that has something to do with Dougie.”
“Yeah, probably.” Harry’s answer seemed a bit, well like he really didn’t care.
“Do you know what went on between them? I mean has Dougie told you anything?”
“No.”
“Oh, well don’t you think it’s a bit weird? I mean one second Abbey is making out with Dougie, and the next she’s slapping him for trying to kiss her!”
“Yep, well thanks to that Dougie won’t be seeing Abbs anytime soon. He pretty much hates her, let her know for me will you?”
“Uh sure…” Did he just call her Abbs? Why did he just call her Abbs? Eh Jordan, calm down. He probably just picked it up from you, you call her that a lot. It’s her nickname, there’s nothing wrong with him using it. No problem at all.
“Are you doing anything tomorrow?”
“Um, tomorrow…I think I was going to help Abbey look for another part time job, she’s having a bit of trouble keeping up with the rent.”
“Wouldn’t you rather some spend time with your lovely boyfriend?” Harry asked jokingly.
“Eh, I wish I could Harry. But I promised Abbs.”
“You couldn’t skip out just this once?”
“Harry, you know I would…but I can’t.”
“Not even to come with me to a band interview on a talk show?”
“Oh my god Harry! You’re going to be on TV?!?!? When? What time? How? Who? AHH!! I’m so happy for you!” Jordan was talking a ten words a second.
“Whoa, slow down!” Harry was happy, Jordan could tell he was smiling, possibly even blushing.
“Okay, sorry. I’m just a little excited that my boyfriend, is going to be on TV!”
“Hehe, well. Will you come with me?” Then Jordan was faced with one of the most difficult decisions in her life. Ditch Abbey and leave her filling out boring job applications by herself and go with her boyfriend and his band to a London Talk Show studio and possibly be on TV! Or she could skip going, fill out job applications that weren’t even for herself and catch the show later.

The question was Harry or Abbey? Abbey or Harry? Harry or Abbey? Abbey or Harry? Who came first in life her boy friend or her best friend? Trying to figure that out was enough to make a person go insane.
